Survey Says These Are the Hottest Kitchen Remodel Trends of 2024

A space that serves as the backdrop of core memories, family gatherings and free-flowing conversations, the kitchen is the hub of the home. MasterBrand Cabinets, the largest manufacturer of residential cabinets in North America—owning renowned cabinet brands including one of our top cabinet suppliers, Starmark—set out to find the key factors that would undoubtedly influence kitchen design in the upcoming year.

According to their major new survey of over 1,200 interior design experts, individuals are not only intending to craft a space that will promote slowing-down, they are also interested in incorporating more warmth and connection.

Let’s take a look at the top kitchen remodel trends of 2024:

Transitional Timelines

Blurring the lines between past and present, modern traditional kitchens redefine the concept of timeless luxury. Here, classic design elements are reimagined through a contemporary lens, resulting in spaces that feel both familiar and fresh. Expect to see traditional cabinetry paired with innovative appliances or ornate crown molding contrasted with sleek, industrial-inspired fixtures.

Soft Modern Sensibility

Embracing a softer, more inviting approach to modernism, soft modern kitchens promote warmth and comfort. Characterized by gentle curves, muted hues and natural materials, this trend fosters a serene ambiance conducive to both cooking and relaxation. Picture sleek countertops softened by rounded edges, complemented by warm wood accents and subtle, understated lighting fixtures.

Slower-Paced Living

In a world that often feels chaotic, many are looking to reclaim the kitchen as a sanctuary for slower-paced living, reminiscent of the pandemic-era. This trend emphasizes mindfulness, simplicity and connection—to oneself, to loved ones and to the natural world. From cozy breakfast nooks that encourage lingering conversations to multifunctional islands designed for communal cooking experiences, these kitchens prioritize meaningful moments over mere functionality.

Simple, Versatile Colors and Finishes

Say “goodbye” to overly ornate and extravagant kitchen designs, and say “hello” to simplicity and flexibility. With a focus on versatile colors and finishes that stand the test of time, neutral palettes with shades of white, gray and taupe are serving as the foundation for pops of color or texture. Matte finishes, natural stone and wood grain patterns add depth and character to these understated spaces.

Raw, Organic and Warm Elements

Returning to more natural and earthy roots, individuals are opting to incorporate more raw, organic and warm materials in contemporary kitchen design. From exposed brick walls and reclaimed wood accents to handcrafted pottery and woven textiles, these elements infuse the space with a sense of authenticity and soul. Natural light floods in through large windows, illuminating the raw beauty of the surroundings. Many homes are now welcoming more plants and greenery into the kitchen, as well.

Simplifying for Functionality and Universal Storage

The kitchen needs to be the most functional space in the home, and if you’re finding that it has become too chaotic to cook a meal, simplifying is your friend. Clever storage solutions, such as pull-out pantry shelves, deep drawers, and hidden compartments, help maximize space and minimize clutter. Universal design principles ensure that the kitchen is accessible to all, regardless of age or mobility, promoting inclusivity, convenience, and community.

These trends reflect a desire for spaces that not only look beautiful but also support the way we live, cook, and connect. At our design center, we're passionate about helping bring your dream to life, creating a kitchen that's as functional as it is fabulous.
