Green Is the New Neutral in 2022
Major Paint Companies Choose Hues of Green as Their Colors of the Year
“It’s not easy being green,” says Kermit the Frog.
He might have to revise his declaration for 2022, the year that most paint companies pick a variation of green as their color of the year. Their choices are rooted in the thought process behind the 2021 paint color picks, which leaned toward an array of natural hues.
The trend of using green as the main color pick took 2021’s tendency a step further: “… people are seeking nourishing, healing, meaningful colors with strong associations to nature. The color green is the color of nature. And because it’s so rooted in the natural environment, it creates a meditative mood you can relax into,” says Sherwin-Williams Director of Color Marketing Sue Wadden.
