Rustic Remodel

In addition to the brilliant baking center, the pantry has a special touch, too, with a barn-red screen door adding charm with a splash of color. The updated screened-in porch and "honeybee" bathroom complete the home- they really nailed the farmhouse style!

Farmhouse Fresh

With a focus on their passions of beekeeping and herb gardening, this retired couple saw potential in this rural home they bought in 2013. They asked us for suggestions on remodeling their kitchen and dining space, laundry, downstairs bathroom floor and screened porch. A clever addition allowed us to nearly double the size of the kitchen, adding a beautiful island with extra seating.

The island's lowered baking center is an ideal height for rolling out dough and encouraging "help" from the grandkids. We love the charming pantry, accessed through a barn-red screen door. This project wasn't all cosmetics. Along with the "pretty stuff," we removed a load-bearing wall, a portion of the deck framing, and the roof connecting the house to the garage to accommodate the new addition. We also added purpose to the previous breezeway by transforming the space into a quaint "honeybee" powder room and a mud/laundry room!

The screened-in porch gave the owners an extension of living space, which provides plenty of room to stretch out and enjoy a breezy day. We're very proud of how their home turned out and love how the owners put a unique twist on the popular farmhouse style!
